GENERAL RULES & SALES GUIDELINES
If you unable to work a shift please notify Cynthia Massey with a text a soon as possible at 618-201-8848. Any changes made to the schedule need to be cleared with Cynthia Massey or it could result with the loss of pay for hours worked.
Be sure to sign in and record the time you start work and stop work (otherwise, you won’t be paid for your time).
Be friendly, courteous and helpful to all customers.
When customers arrive, greet them promptly and explain the types of trees we have.
Explain the pricing and color system for marking trees.
If customers indicate they want a certain type of tree or price range, guide them to those trees and offer to hold up trees and turn them so they can see all sides.
Trees may be paid for with cash or check (made out to CCHS Band Boosters). Record the sales on the sales form and place the payment in the cash box.
Once a tree is sold, offer to wrap the tree with netting and saw a few inches off the bottom if they are going to immediately put it in water. Offer customers a tree care info sheet. Carry the tree to their vehicle. If they want the tree to be tied down, use leftover tree twine or whatever the customer has.
You are here to sell trees and work. Make sure that the lot is stocked and clean. Keep the lot in good shape by sweeping, disposing of trash and picking up tree twine. Make sure all tree lot activities are taken care of before playing cards, chatting, doing homework and retreating into the shed.
Adult workers are responsible for opening, balancing & closing sales account for the shift they work. See the separate procedure.
Keep an eye on the tree lot for customers and frequently walk through the lot.
Always have a worker near or in the shed to keep an eye on the cash box.
If you need to take a break to use the restroom or get food, do so quickly (10 minutes or less) and in shifts. Students working the tree lot should never all leave at one time. Do not leave only one person working the lot.
Help customers in any way you can. Service is the key to our success!
